Wines crafted by time
José de Mello’s family home, it was acquired in 1943 and has been since then the Alentejo retreat from the city. José Manuel de Mello’s passion for wine led together with his ambition to the planting of 45 hectares of vineyard in 1998.
The vineyards are surrounded by over 600 hectares of cork forest in a large, rich and complex 3000-hectare ecosystem, that has a positive impact on the wines.
An ambitious project that today produces some of the region’s finest wines while generating a positive impact on the local community and economy. The identity, passion and attention to detail remains the same since day one.
Arraiolos
Only 120km from Lisbon or 30kms from Évora, Ravasqueira has its own microclimate. The vineyards are plated in small plots in a valley split by a creek surrounded by small hills. This generates unique concentration of humidity even during the summer and the temperatures may be 4º to 5º lower than in the village center only 2kms away. A unique place that sits in the transition between the mountains of the north of Alentejo and the plains in the southern part of the region.
